Clinical Supervisor – Medical Lead

The Medical Lead will be a Veterinary Technician or Assistant who will be responsible for compassionate, high-quality veterinary services, ensuring animals are healthy and ready for adoption, and working in collaboration with shelter programs and departments. This position will assist in the day to day running of the Medical Team and coordinating with CAC’s Veterinary Partners.

This position will report directly to the Medical Manager.

What you’ll do

  • Escalate issues to Medical Manager
  • Functions as a scheduled Medical team member within department(s)
  • Collaborates with other departments regarding animal and client(s) needs
  • Prioritizes and organizes workflows for the shift
  • Delegating team responsibilities as appropriate to team members
  • Assisting in making shift assignments and re-organizing when necessary
  • Directly manages Medical team members while on shift which includes but is not limited to:
  • Manages early departures, sharing of resources, breaks and lunches for team members
  • Addresses process or employee issues during their shift
  • Communicates schedule changes, performance concerns and shift issues to the Medical Manager routinely
  • Serves as first level responder to client concerns and other departmental concerns
  • Trains and mentors new team members
  • Provides input to Medical Manager on team member performance evaluations
  • Participates in management or administrative meeting(s) routinely
  • Coordinates Surgery Schedule
  • Including ensuring animals are moved to clinic before and after Sx
  • Ensuring cages are ready for Surgery drop off
  • Working with Medical Coordinator on cancellations/reschedules/additions as needed
  • Assisting with the coordination of surgery at all Veterinary partners
  • Ensures follow through of departmental workflow
  • Ensuring End of Day Clean up is complete
  • Monitoring the medical e-mails for completion

Who you are

  • Prior veterinary experience required, previous shelter experience desired
  • Proficient in knowledge of vaccine protocols, medical terminology, medical record entry, and medication administration
  • Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time; frequently works in a bent position
  • Ability to read and interpret policies, procedures, and professional publications
  • Possess strong oral and listening skills

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have personal integrity and remain free of felony convictions
  • Must maintain confidentiality
