Job Description

Medical Coordinators will serve as the first point of contact for all medical clinic clients. As well as be responsible for assisting the Medical Team in organizing medical records and schedule to assist in ensuring animals are healthy and ready for adoption. This position will report directly to the Medical Manager.

Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to all clients, including fosters, adopters, volunteers, and staff
- Coordinate daily appointments and surgeries for all shelter, foster, and adopted animals, including scheduling, checking in and out, and any follow up communication with caregivers
- Triage incoming phone and email requests for appointments, treatments, and medications, according to protocol
- Stay current on shelter medicine best practice and follow shelter protocol
- Perform any other shelter duties as directed by the Medical Manager or Medical Director.
- Escalate complicated medical or customer service issues to the Medical Team or Medical Manager
- Attend and participate in all required training sessions and meetings
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Able to work in a high volume, fast-paced, high-stress environment
Major Essential Duties
- Be present and timely for the duration of each shift
- Be empathetic and compassionate when interacting with the animals, staff and public
- Adhere to the Cincinnati Animal CARE Culture Agreement which includes behaving in a manner that promotes a fun, positive work environment
Education and/or Experience
- Experience caring for animals in a safe, effective, and humane manner
- Knowledge of and commitment to high levels of customer service
- One year experience in the veterinary field and/or one year receptionist experience preferred plus general medical knowledge
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs
- Ability to read and interpret policies, procedures, and professional publications
- Possess strong oral and listening skills
Other Knowledge and/or Skills
- Ability to work under general supervision
- Ability to maintain accurate medical records
- Ability to exercise judgment, tack and diplomacy
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties
