Whether it’s love at first snuggle or a “swipe left”, you’ll give a pet a cozy night away from the shelter and help them feel loved. Who knows—you might just find your soulmate! With our One Night Stand promo, you can explore our Foster to Adopt program with no strings attached!
How it works:
- Peek at all the adorable adoptable pups at cincycare.org! 🐶💛
- If a pup is listed in foster care, send an email to [email protected] to set up a meet-and-greet! ✉️🐾
- If they’re at the shelter, swing by 3949 Colerain Ave any day from 1-6 PM to say hello in person! No appointment necessary! 🏡🐕
- Not sure if it’s love at first sight? Try our Foster-to-Adopt program—take them home for 24 hours, and we’ll check in to see if it’s meant to be or if you need to schedule a return! ❤️🐾
Why Foster to Adopt?
At Cincinnati Animal CARE, we’re passionate about matching our dogs with their perfect families! One of the best ways to ensure a successful adoption is through our foster-to-adopt program, which allows families to foster a dog over 6 months of age before making the commitment to adopt. This gives both the family and the dog the opportunity to bond and see if they are a good fit for one another.
Fostering to adopt offers a unique opportunity to truly get to know a dog in a home environment before committing to adoption. It allows potential adopters to see how the dog behaves in various situations, such as around other pets, children, or during daily routines. This trial period helps ensure a better match for both the family and the dog, reducing the risk of returns. Additionally, fostering gives dogs a break from the stress of the shelter, allowing them to showcase their true personality in a more relaxed setting.
What happens during the foster to adopt period?
- The foster-to-adopt period is 48 hours, but may be extended up to a maximum of 7 days based on the animal’s specific needs.
- A check-in will be sent to you by CAC’s foster team 24-hours after bringing the animal home which we will provide any necessary resources or support as needed.
- During the foster period, you will provide proper care; including feeding, exercise, and socialization. CARE will provide all necessary medical care until the animal has been outcomed as a pre-adopt or finalized adoption.
- Please report any changes in the animal’s health or behavior to the Foster Team promptly.
- Regular check-ins may be conducted by Cincinnati Animal CARE to ensure the welfare of the foster-to-adopt animal.
