Cincinnati Animal CARE Launches “The Pittie Tour”

Join Cincinnati Animal CARE for the Show Us Your Pitties Tour, a guided walking tour through Northside celebrating the pittie and pittie–type dogs who make this neighborhood where the shelter calls home, so special!

Date: Sunday, May 17th
Start Time: 3:00 PM
Starting Location: Cincinnati Animal CARE – Dane Avenue
Ending Location: Northside Yacht Club

Beginning at 3:00 PM at Cincinnati Animal CARE’s Dane Avenue location, participants will check in, grab their tour map for the Pittie Party, and explore Northside within the tour boundaries between Pullan Avenue and Blue Rock and Hamilton Avenue and Dane Ave.

Along the route, you’ll meet beloved neighborhood pitties at designated stops hosted by local residents and community members. Dogs may be greeting guests from their homes, front yards, sidewalks, nearby parks, and more, giving participants a chance to meet some of Northside’s most charming, and most misunderstood canine residents!

The tour will conclude at Northside Yacht Club, where guests can enjoy drink specials and mingle with friends and neighbors.

This event is all about celebrating the dogs who make Northside such a vibrant and welcoming community — while supporting the lifesaving work of Cincinnati Animal CARE.

Important Event Guidelines

  • To ensure the safety and comfort of participating dogs:
  • Guests should not bring their own dogs to the walking tour.
  • Many of the participating dogs will be greeting visitors in their homes, yards, and neighborhood spaces, so we ask that attendees enjoy the tour as human guests only.

Why This Event Matters

This event was created to celebrate a group of dogs that are too often misunderstood. Pitties and pittie–type dogs consistently make up a significant portion of shelter populations nationwide, including at Cincinnati Animal CARE. Despite their reputation, these dogs are known for their affectionate, people-oriented nature and thrive when given structure, stability, and a loving home.

At Cincinnati Animal CARE, every animal is treated as an individual, not defined by breed or stereotype. Through events like The Pittie Tour, the organization aims to create positive, real-life interactions that challenge misconceptions and highlight what these dogs are truly like: loyal companions who simply need the right environment to succeed. As part of that commitment to responsible pet ownership and community wellbeing, all participating dogs in this event are required to be spayed or neutered.

Supporting a Lifesaving Mission

While the event is free to attend, merchandise purchases and community participation help support Cincinnati Animal CARE’s mission to provide lifesaving care to thousands of animals each year!
