About Silent Night
Every December, Cincinnati Animal CARE invites our community to open their hearts—and homes—for the holidays. The Silent Night Foster Campaign helps give as many dogs as possible a warm, loving place to spend Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s, while providing our hardworking shelter staff a much-needed break during one of the busiest times of the year. Whether you’re an experienced foster or brand new, this is your chance to make a life-changing difference. Even a short stay means a dog can trade a kennel for a couch, enjoy family time, and show off their true personality to help them get adopted.
How It Works
Pick up a foster dog anytime between December 10–24 and plan to keep them through January 2 (or longer!).
- All appointments are scheduled through Calendly for easy matching.
- Morning pickups (10:30–12:00) are for direct placements.
- Afternoon appointments (1:00–6:00) include meet-and-greets for one or two dogs.
- Every participant receives a Silent Night Foster Bag and special info sheet at pickup.
Special Incentives
This year’s Silent Night includes a few extra treats for our holiday heroes:
- Custom Silent Night Badges for all fosters who pick up between Dec 10–24 and keep their dog through Jan 2.
- $25 Foster-to-Adopt Promo for:
- Anyone who FTA’s (Foster-to-Adopt) between Dec 10–24 and finalizes by Jan 2.
- Any foster who adopts their foster dog between Dec 10–Jan 2.
- Dogs over 6 months old qualify for this promotion.
Why It Matters
Every Silent Night foster means:
- One less dog spending the holidays alone.
- More space and relief for shelter staff caring for hundreds of animals.
- Better adoption chances for dogs showing off their “real selves” in homes.
In 2024, Silent Night helped 148 dogs spend the holidays with foster families—and we’re aiming even higher this year!
Who Can Participate
Anyone 18+ with a love for dogs and within an hour from Northside Cincinnati! You can:
- Pick up a dog for a short-term foster stay (Dec 10–Jan 2)
- Foster-to-Adopt if you’re looking to make it permanent
- Or continue fostering beyond the holidays if it’s a good fit!
Whether you have a quiet home, an active household, or other pets, our team will match you with a dog who fits your environment.
How to Sign Up
- Complete our Silent Night Foster Form
- Schedule your pickup appointment via Calendly.
- Come to the shelter, meet your foster match, and head home with everything you need for the holidays.
All scheduling, matching, and communication will happen directly through our Foster Team and Calendly.
Our Mission
The goal of Silent Night is simple:
“To provide ideal housing, greater adoption opportunities, and reduced shelter workload by placing as many dogs as possible into foster homes during the holiday season.”
