Kitten Fostering
Fostering kittens is an incredibly rewarding experience that helps save the lives of the most vulnerable animals in our shelters. Whether you're an experienced caregiver or new to kitten care, your involvement makes a significant difference. By providing a temporary home, you give these kittens a chance to grow strong and healthy until they find their forever homes.
Kitten Fostering Opportunities
Newborns
Fostering newborn kittens is an incredibly rewarding experience. These tiny, vulnerable kittens need round-the-clock care, nourishment, and love to thrive. As a foster caregiver, you'll guide them through critical early stages of life, ensuring they grow strong and healthy. Watching them progress from bottle-feeding to eating on their own is heartwarming and fulfilling. Your dedication and care give these kittens the best start in life, preparing them for their future homes. Become a newborn kitten foster and make a lasting impact on their journey.
Ringworm
Fostering kittens with ringworm is a special and crucial role. These kittens need a safe, isolated environment where they can receive treatment and recover without spreading the infection. By providing a temporary home and care, you help them heal faster and become ready for adoption. Your efforts make a significant difference in their lives, turning a challenging start into a bright future. Consider fostering kittens with ringworm and be a part of their recovery journey.
Nursing Mom + Kittens
Having the opportunity to foster a mom and her nursing kittens is a truly special experience! This family unit requires a quiet, safe space where the mother can care for her babies while you provide support and ensure they have everything they need. By fostering, you help reduce the stress on the mother, allowing her to focus on nurturing her kittens, which leads to healthier, happier babies. Open your heart and home to a mom and her nursing kittens, and be a crucial part of their journey to a loving future home.
Socialization Foster
Socialization fostering may include unsocial kittens, cats from hoarding cases, and former community cats with medical needs. These vulnerable animals require special care and a safe environment to heal and become adoptable. By providing a temporary home, you offer them the chance to receive essential medical treatment, socialization, and love. Your dedication can help transform their lives!
Medical Foster
Fostering cats and kittens with medical needs is a true act of compassion. These animals often require specialized care, such as cage rest for fractures, scheduled amputations, or end-of-life care. By opening your home, you provide a peaceful, loving environment where they can heal and receive the attention they deserve. Your care helps them recover more quickly and comfortably than in a shelter setting.
Non-adoptable
This includes cats or kittens that are on hold due to surrender prevention, an active cruelty case investigation, or due to pending rescue placement. These cats and kittens just need a safe space to stay while they await the next step in their journey! None of these need active marketing, so if you're not good with social media this may be the category for you!

Katy C. and Family
Katy C. and her family began fostering in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina and have fostered 880 animals since! They love the controlled chaos of fostering year-round, and growing up around animal rescue, her kids love helping out. "I would recommend anyone that wants to make a difference to foster with Cincinnati Animal Care. You are given all the support and supplies you need to help a shelter cat or kitten. I ran a 501c rescue with a good friend for many years and working with Care has been so much easier. They are the true unsung heroes." – Katy C.
