Cincinnati Animal CARE Breaks Shelter Record for Single-Day Adoptions, Joins BISSELL Pet Foundation for Empty the Shelters™ this Holiday Season

400+ shelters nationwide reduce adoption fees and find loving homes for pets

Tuesday, December 3rd, Cincinnati, Ohio—  Cincinnati Animal CARE, Hamilton County’s only open-intake animal shelter and the sole provider of animal control services for the county, is thrilled to announce the success of its Annual Black Friday Adoption Event.  At this year’s event, 146 shelter pets found loving homes, making the holidays brighter for families and animals alike. Building on this incredible momentum, Cincy CARE is proud to partner with the BISSELL Pet Foundation for its Empty the Shelters™ reduced-fee adoption event, running now through December 17th. This national initiative, led by the trusted advocate for ending pet homelessness, aims to connect even more pets with their forever families this holiday season.

To help deserving shelter pets find loving homes, BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors reduced adoption fees for cats and dogs during each nationwide event.

This year has been nothing short of extraordinary for adoptions at Cincy CARE, but with over 8,000 animals expected to come through the doors, the work of sheltering and rehoming never truly ends. Black Friday came and went with 146 amazing adoptions, but  Cincy CARE still has many animals waiting to find their future homes! There are currently 162 dogs at our Colerain shelter, 84 dogs at our Dane shelter, and 254 animals in foster care, including cats, kittens, and dogs.

“It has been an incredibly challenging year for saving lives, as our nation’s shelters continue to take in more pets than they are adopting out. Tens of thousands of shelter pets—of all breeds, ages, and personalities—are desperately in need of homes,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. Empty the Shelters™ – Holiday Hope is more than an adoption event; it’s a lifeline for shelter pets. Please visit your local participating shelter to adopt or foster a pet this holiday season.”

“Our community has shown up for the cats and dogs in our care, and we can’t thank them enough,” says Shelter Director Meaghan Colville. “But we know there are still many animals waiting for loving homes, and that’s why partnerships like Bissell’s Empty the Shelters™ are so vital. Working with Bissell Pet Foundation gives us the opportunity to spotlight our incredible animals on a local level, backed by the support of a national organization.”
