Test Drive a Dog at Cincinnati Animal CARE with Waived Fee Adoptions through the Foster to Adopt Program!
Wednesday, March 19th, Cincinnati, OH – Cincinnati Animal CARE is excited to announce a special opportunity for prospective pet adopters: Thursday, March 20th through the end of the month, all adoption fees will be waived for individuals who participate in the “Test Drive a Dog” foster-to-adopt program, for all dogs over six months of age and older.
This initiative allows potential adopters to take a dog home on a trial basis for up to seven days before making a final commitment. If the adoption is finalized within that period, the standard adoption fee will be completely waived.
“This program is a fantastic way for people to see how a dog fits into their home and lifestyle before making a lifelong commitment,” said Meaghan Colville, Shelter Director at Cincinnati Animal CARE. “We want to ensure that every dog finds the perfect match, and by offering this opportunity, we’re making adoption more accessible while also giving our shelter dogs the best possible chance at a forever home.”
Addressing the Urgent Need to Clear the Shelter
This promotion comes in response to a surge in animal intakes this month, putting Cincinnati Animal CARE at a 32.5% increase in intake compared to the same time last year. Since last Monday, the shelter has taken in 121 dogs. With the shelter at capacity, the organization urgently needs the community’s support to clear the shelter and find loving homes for these deserving dogs.
How the Foster-to-Adopt Program Works:

Participants can take a dog home for up to seven days to ensure the pet is a good fit for their home and lifestyle.

Foster-to-adopt families will receive all necessary supplies, including food, a leash, a collar, and any required medications.

Veterinary care is provided during the trial period.

All dogs over the age of six months of age are included in this promotion.

Adopters must confirm their decision within 48 hours and up to seven days; if they choose to adopt, the fee is waived.

If the dog is not the right fit, the pet can be returned to the shelter, and if interested, the team will help find a more suitable match.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and provide valid state identification to take a dog home.
Studies show that reduced and waived fee adoptions do not put animals at risk. According to Best Friends Animal Society, research indicates that there is no correlation between adoption fees and an adopter’s commitment to keeping their pet.
