Cincinnati Animal CARE Launches “20,000 Reasons to Adopt”

$20 Adoption Special Celebrates Lifesaving Milestone and Community Support

Friday, April 11th, CINCINNATI, OH — Cincinnati Animal CARE, Hamilton County’s only open-intake shelter and sole provider of animal services for the county, is proud to announce the launch of “20,000 Reasons to Adopt,” a community celebration of gratitude and $20 adoption event, marking the organization’s upcoming milestone of 20,000 total adoptions since taking over Hamilton County’s animal sheltering services in 2020.

As part of this campaign, all cats and dogs six months of age or older are available for $20 adoption fees, starting today and running until the 20,000th adoption is made.

This celebration also comes on the heels of a major recognition in City Beat’s Best of Cincinnati Awards, where the organization was named Best Animal Shelter/Adoption Center for the third year in a row and Best Local Cause—as voted by the public.

“Reaching 20,000 adoptions in under five years is a huge milestone,” said Executive Director Carolyn Evans. “It’s a testament to the power of this community, and we’re inviting everyone to be part of the celebration—whether by adopting, donating, or sharing their story.”

The $20 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations. All adoptions are same-day, no appointment or pre-application required. View adoptable animals online at cincinnatianimalcare.org, or visit the shelter at 3949 Colerain Avenue, open daily from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, for dog adoptions, and 4210 Dane Avenue, for cat adoptions.

The $20 special also applies at off-site PetSmart adoption events for animals 6+ months and older:

  • 🐶 Saturdays (1:30–3:30 PM) – Glenway Ave PetSmart (Dogs)

  • 🐱 Sundays (11:00 AM–1:00 PM) – Alamo Ave PetSmart (Cats/Kittens)

Supporters who aren’t in a position to adopt can still contribute by making a $20 donation—one for every reason we have to keep saving lives. Donations can be made at https://cincinnatianimalcare.networkforgood.com/projects/250392-20-000-reasons-to-adopt

“The community is showing us they care. They want to be part of the solution,” said Shelter Director Meaghan Colville. “We’ve saved 20,000 lives with them—and we’ll save 20,000 more because of them.”
