Cincy CARE launches $45 for 45 Empty the Shelters Adoption Event with Bissell Pet Foundation

Cincinnati Animal CARE Joins BISSELL Pet Foundation to Offer Reduced Adoption Fees During Spring Empty the Shelters Event
Cincinnati, OH, Thursday, May 1st— Cincinnati Animal CARE, Hamilton County’s Animal Shelter, has partnered with BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending pet homelessness, to prompt a nationwide call for adoption through its Empty the Shelters Event. May 1st-7th, Cincinnati Animal CARE will participate alongside 380+ shelters across 43 states to help pets find loving homes through reduced adoption fees of $45 for adult dogs over 45 lbs, and $25 for adult cats, generously sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation.
Cincinnati Animal CARE is putting a spotlight on its “big” dog population during this round of Empty the Shelters with a promotion called “$45 for 45.” The campaign emphasizes the urgent need for adopters for dogs over 45 pounds, which are considered “large” by shelter standards. As foster family numbers tend to dip this time of year, the on-site population of these “big” dogs is higher than average, so the team is ramping up efforts to increase adoptions and engage the community through events and creative promotions.
“Our community has shown up for the cats and dogs in our care, and we can’t thank them enough,” says Shelter Director Meaghan Colville. “But we know there are still many animals waiting for loving homes, especially our larger dogs, that could really use this boost. Partnerships like Bissell’s Empty the Shelters™ are so vital, and working with the Bissell Pet Foundation gives us the opportunity to spotlight our incredible animals on a local level, backed by the support of a national organization.”
Cincinnati Animal CARE will participate at both shelter facilities; at 3949 Colerain Avenue with adoptable dogs, and 4210 Dane Avenue with adoptable cats. Interested adopters can visit CincinnatiAnimalCARE.org to view adoptable pets and learn more, in advance of visiting the shelter(s).
“Every time we host Empty the Shelters, it affirms the importance of this lifesaving program,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “During the event in May, tens of thousands of pets of all kinds, many who’ve waited far too long, will find the loving homes they deserve. Empty the Shelters has created real momentum around adoption, helping our nation’s overcrowded shelters save more lives. We are proud to keep expanding this life-changing effort and grateful to everyone who makes it possible by adopting or donating.”
Since its inception in 2016, Empty the Shelters has helped more than 323,000 pets find loving homes and is now the largest funded adoption event in the country. The program partners with more than 815 animal welfare organizations across 49 states and Canada.
BISSELL Pet Foundation and Cincinnati Animal CARE urge families to research the pet they are interested in adopting, as well as adoption requirements. For more information on adopting or donating to “Empty the Shelters,” visit www.bissellpetfoundation.org/
