Our shelter is once again at critical capacity, and we need your help.
From Friday, July 10 through Sunday, July 12, adoption fees for all adult dogs and adult cats will be waived at Cincinnati Animal CARE. Every adoption this weekend creates space for another homeless animal who urgently needs shelter.
Right now, Cincinnati Animal CARE is caring for more than 800 animals, including more than 250 dogs and 100 cats living onsite across our two shelter locations. Since July 1 alone, we’ve welcomed more than 180 dogs and cats, and new arrivals continue to outpace the number of animals leaving for homes.
July is historically our busiest intake month of the year. As Hamilton County’s only open, stray-intake animal shelter, we never turn away an animal in need. That means every kennel that opens through adoption allows us to say “yes” to the next lost, abandoned, or homeless pet that comes through our doors.
Whether you’re looking for an adventurous hiking buddy, a couch companion, a playful best friend, or a laid-back lap cat, there is an animal waiting to meet you.

We especially encourage visitors to stop by our Dane Avenue campus, where nearly 100 dogs are currently waiting for homes. Because this location receives less foot traffic than our Colerain campus, many incredible dogs are often overlooked despite being just as deserving of loving families.
You can also meet adoptable pets spending the weekend in foster homes and at participating PetSmart adoption events throughout Greater Cincinnati.

A $5 service fee applies to all adoptions.
Every adopted pet is spayed or neutered (or scheduled for surgery if age appropriate), vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to begin their next chapter.

Every adoption, every foster, and every share helps us stay ahead of the next animal who needs us.”
